OAKLAND - Albert Bentley bulled over for two 1-yard touchdown runs Saturday night and the Oakland Invaders overcame a more than 200-yard rushing performance by Herschel Walker to clinch the Western Conference title with a 34-29 victory over the New Jersey Generals.
The Invaders improved to 12-4-1 and combined with Denver's loss Friday with Portland clinched their second Western title in three years. New Jersey, which has already clinched a playoff spot, fell to 11-6.
It was the 11th straight week that Walker bettered 100 yards.
